For those of us who love wild mushrooms but don't actually trust ourselves to forage for them, last week's rain was a blessing. All of a sudden, chanterelles are showing up on local menus. Carpenter & Main in Norwich is offering them as a side dish for $8 with any entree. They're not going to last very long, so if you know of other restaurants that are serving them, please let everyone know in the comments. We funghiphiles of the Upper Valley NEED TO KNOW!
WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Carpenter & Main chef/owner Bruce McLeod emails that he's only got a couple of pounds left, which "should last another day or two." If you want 'em, now's the time!
