Sweet! These Are the Best PYO Berries in the Upper Valley

If asking for your favorite PYO berry spots has taught me anything, it’s that we have more PYO berry spots than we know what to do with.

This makes me anxious. Because I want to visit all of them. It’s the same feeling when I actually arrive at a berry farm. Can you relate? First, there are other people already picking berries, and you panic because they’re picking all the good ones. Then you see, whew, there are still tons of berries—but still, you want them all. You'd fill 16 milk jugs of berries if you could. Or is it just me? Probably just me.

Anyway, now’s the time, folks. Raspberries and blueberries are ridiculous this year. Better pick some before I pick them all:

(Listed from north to south)

4 Corners Farm - Newbury, VT
Pick berries and hang with their Jersey and Scottish Highland cows!

Pierson Farm - Bradford, VT
Best for strawberry-picking, but lots of other locally grown produce available, too.

Wild Hill Organics - Fairlee, VT
Yes, truly organic blueberries on a beautiful hillside farm.

Ward Berry Farm - Strafford, VT
Raspberries and blueberries are popping in late July.

Cedar Circle Farm - East Thetford, VT
This farm has it all. PYO berries, flowers, and of course the Hello Cafe (a Best of the UV coffee shop)!

Krzal’s - Thetford, VT
Feels like quintessential Vermont, says one reader. Find Krzal’s on Cobble Hill Rd. in Thetford.

Super Acres - Lyme, NH (blueberries)
Unsprayed, unbelievably plump blueberries. Probably what makes them so super.

Moore’s Orchard - North Pomfret, VT
Blueberries in July, and come back for apples in October.

Darling’s Berries - Canaan, NH
Can I please pick Darling raspberries and blueberries and mean it in every sense of the word?

Noda Farm - Meriden, NH
Some of their blueberry bushes have been producing for over 30 years. Taste the tradition!

Riverview Farm - Plainfield, NH
The one you know and love. Berries, and later apples and pumpkins. And just down the road? Yeah, that’d be McNamara Dairy.

Wilkinson’s Blueberries - Claremont, NH
Climb the hill to get your berries, or else find them at 100 Mile Market in downtown Claremont.

Green Dragon Farm - Ascutney, VT
Blueberries basically hugging the base of Mt. Ascutney.

Goulden Ridge Farm - Weathersfield, VT
My personal fave, high up on the hill with gorgeous mountain views...and all the blueberries.

Wellwood Orchards - Springfield, VT
Strawberries like you wouldn't believe. And blueberries, raspberries, apples, cherries. And peaches!
