Lebanon Cal Ripken 12U All-Stars Loses Lead Early In Defeat During New England Regional Semi-Final Game
Return home a top team in New England.
Lebanon watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-4 loss to Rhode Island state champion Washington Park on Thursday, July 19 in Waterville, Maine at the New England 12U 60’ Cal Ripken Regional Tournament.
Lebanon fired up the offense in the first inning when Dominic Petkus grounded out but got the RBI as Zachary Aldrich crossed home plate and scored the first run of the night. Washington Park answered in the bottom of the first, scoring on a home run by Angell G, a home run by Leandro A, and a single by Lenniel L. Score at the end of one inning: Lebanon 1, Washington Park 6.
Lebanon didn’t give up, but struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Washington Park, giving up 14 runs on the night. Washington Park’s Armani A went yard in the fifth inning for the walk-off win.
Henry H led Washington Park to victory on the mound. He lasted four innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out six. Blake F threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Sam Bates took the loss for Lebanon. He allowed five hits and nine runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three. Dominic Petkus (1.1 innings) and Dawson Bates (1.2 innings) combined to allow three hits and five runs, striking out seven and walking three in relief.
Lebanon racked up five hits. Zachary Aldrich and Bodie Benoit each collected two hits to lead Lebanon. Dawson Bates had a double in the third inning.
Washington Park tallied eight hits on the day. Angell and Emanuel R each had multiple hits for Washington Park.

With his key double and solid pitching to finish up the game, Dawson Bates received the final Player of the Game pin for Lebanon.
Washington Park, RI, and Ashburnham, MA, moved on to the New England Regional Championship on Friday, July 20 at noon. After losing to Washington Park in pool play earlier in the tournament, Ashburnham had what was needed to get past the tough Rhode Island squad on Friday and won by a score of 14-3. Good luck to the Ash West team that will be representing New England at the 2018 Cal Ripken 12U 60’ World Series in a few weeks!
It’s been a great run for the Lebanon 12U All-Stars. They earned the right to be one of the top four teams in New England, and it will be fun to watch them as they progress through the high school and Legion ball ranks in the coming years.
Thanks to Troy Shareiko for sharing the great photos, and to the team for sharing their GameChanger stats and game recaps for me to work with.
