This morning I had time to head off into the Farnum Hill Reserve to forage for some chanterelles. It has been so dry, I did not have high hopes. I did come across a strange device, buried in the leaf litter on a random hillside. Took it home, opened it up to find it is a NWS radiosonde. Complete with mailing instructions. Who knows where it was launched or how long it had been sitting in the woods. I was impressed it made it through the canopy. So, this morning was not a bust, although my family will have to wait longer for the cream of chanterelle soup they love.
