Lebanon fired up the offense in the first inning, with a lead-off double by Zachary Aldrich to start things off. That was followed by singles from Dawson Bates and Bodie Benoit. Bodie’s hit scored the first run of the contest, but a long bomb by clean up hitter Dominic Petkus cleared the bases and netted three RBIs. Lebanon went ahead 4-0 in the first inning and never looked back.

Zach Thompson earned the victory on the hill for Lebanon. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking one. Zachary Aldrich (two innings) and Dominic Petkus (one inning) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  The three pitchers combined for 2 hits, 10 strikeouts, and 3 walks.

Lebanon will face the Eastern Massachusetts champs from Fall River on Sunday, July 15 at 12:30 PM for their next game. Central Vermont plays Maine’s Andy Valley in the 5:30 PM game on Sunday.

After a team dinner, the Lebanon players and families celebrated the 80th birthday of super fan and one of the team grandmothers, Betty Ann Aldrich. Mrs. Aldrich said that they gave her the best gift - a win on her birthday! Mr. and Mrs. Aldrich have been following and supporting the team on the sidelines since their 8U days and are very much appreciated, along with the other grandparents and extended family members and friends that have gone out of their way to cheer this team on over the years.

Thanks to Troy Shareiko for sharing the great photos, and to the team for sharing their GameChanger stats and game recaps for me to work with.
