Remain Undefeated in NH 12U 60' Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament

Barrington Youth Association is hosting this year's NH 12U 60 Foot Cal Ripken State Tournament. The Lebanon 12U All-Stars, representing District 1, had two games in the opening weekend. With the help of buckets of ice water and cooling towels, they tried to stay cool in the midst of this NH heat wave. Here are some photos and recaps of opening weekend action.

Lebanon Clinch Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Plymouth

Lebanon defeated Plymouth 8-2 on Saturday, June 30th after taking the lead late in the game. The game was scoreless until the top of the 3rd when Bennett Hewett scored on a Bodie Benoit double. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Plymouth tied things up at one when an error scored a run.

The game was tied at one with Lebanon batting in the top of the fifth when Zach Thompson doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. Lebanon secured the victory thanks to five runs in the fifth inning. Final score: Lebanon 8, Plymouth 2.  Lebanon outhit Plymouth 10 to 3 in the win.

Sam Bates earned the victory on the mound for Lebanon. He allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out five. Bennett threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Johnny F took the loss for Plymouth. He allowed eight hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven.

Lebanon moved on in the bracket to face host team Barrington the next day.

Two Lebanon Pitchers Combine To Defeat Barrington In Shutout Game


Lebanon defeated Barrington 11-0 in five innings on Sunday, July 1st as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Dawson Bates induced a groundout from Elias (Barrington) to finish off the game.

Lebanon tallied four runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by doubles from Zachary Aldrich and Bodie Benoit and a sac fly by Dawson. Lebanon was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cayden Van Dolah made the most plays with eight.

Zach Thompson earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Lebanon. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out five and walking zero. Dawson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Megon took the loss for Barrington. He surrendered 11 runs on ten hits over five innings, striking out three.

With this win over Barrington, they remain undefeated and move into the NH 12U 60' State Tournament semi-final game on Tuesday night at 5:30 pm.

Eliminated from the NH State Tournament after their second losses: Exeter and Plymouth on Sunday, and Berlin/Gorham and Oyster River on Monday. Remaining teams will play on Tuesday night: Lebanon vs Gilford in the first semi-final, and Barrington vs Kingswood will battle it out to make it to the other semi-final on Thursday night. The 2018 12U 60' champions will be crowned on Friday night (or Saturday, if a second game is needed).
