Additional Injuries Reported
On June 28 at 7:33 a.m., Vermont State Police responded to the report of a two-car motor vehicle crash on Interstate 91 in the Town of Hartland. The crash occurred in the area of mile marker 60 north bound near Exit 9. According to the VTSP, the investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevy truck being operated by Joshua Rondeau of Charlestown, NH, “lost control while traveling south bound, crossed the median and struck a 2007 Toyota Matrix head on.” The operator of the Matrix, Laura McNaughton, 36, of Perkinsville, VT, was pronounced dead at the scene, said authorities. A juvenile passenger in the Matrix sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The operator of the Chevy truck and two juvenile occupants were also transported to DHMC with non-life threatening injuries.
I-91 north bound was closed for a period of time at exit 9 while crash investigators completed their on-scene investigation. It was reopened at approximately 1:00 p.m. Both vehicles were total losses, said authorities.
The investigation as to the cause of the crash is ongoing at this time, said the VTSP.
