Marijuana regulations are specifically and clearly on the Selectboard agenda for the June 27, 2018 meeting. I first wrote about this here in April, when the preliminary request was to ban the sale of hemp and marijuana products. What is the difference between hemp and marijuana? See this dailyUV article by the Co-op from a year ago.

No town ordinance or zoning regulation is at present proposed and adoption follows a defined process. The Mt. Ascutney Prevention Partnership will be making a presentation on the importance and various approaches to protecting youth from “adult only" products, such as tobacco, alcohol and marijuana. From the Selectboard packet, some approaches are:

  • Limiting retail outlet density & location of "adult only" products (products that cannot be sold to minors).
  • Restricting use of "adult only" products in outdoor public spaces, at town sanctioned events, on town property including parks & vehicles.
  • Limiting advertising of "adult only" substances.
