Worth Knowing: King Arthur Flour Kicks Pizza Night Up A Notch
Pizza’s great. Pizza from a wood-fired oven is even greater. But pizza from a communal wood-fired oven on a lazy summer’s evening while you sit around drinking good beer and letting the conversation flow wherever it will? We’re talking sublime.
So if you didn't happen to build a wood-fired oven for your backyard and don't live in a town with one, you’re in luck! Starting Thursday, July 5, King Arthur Flour is going to host a series of community pizza nights at its outdoor wood-fired oven. For a $10 donation, they'll give you dough, sauce, and cheese (donated by Cabot and by Vermont Farmstead). You bring your own toppings (and blanket, chairs and utensils). You’ll shape and top your pizza, then hand it over for baking. The money goes to Hunger Free Vermont to help get healthy meals to kids this summer.
King Arthur is also looking to land a brewery partner for each of the eight nights this summer that they’ll be doing this. Which will be each Thursday from July 5 through August 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
So look. You get to eat great pizza -- with crust, sauce and cheese made by people who know what they’re doing. You get to do it outside. You get to luxuriate in this golden age of craft beers. You get to know that your money’s going to a very fine cause. Is there anything else that needs to be said?
