Hartford Community Coalition’s Fourth Annual Block Party on June 6
On, June 6, 2018, the Hartford Community Coalition (HCC) will host its FREE Fourth Annual Block Party at Lyman Point Park in White River Junction.
While Hartford (White River Junction, Wilder, West Hartford and Queechee) residents comprise the party’s primary audience, anyone from surrounding communities is welcome to come celebrate the town and meet their neighbors.
The HCC is a group of community members who support and promote the wellness of individuals and families. The organization works to support neighbors in Hartford impacted by substance misuse and mental health concerns as well as diminish the impacts of food insecurity in Hartford.
“Our Block Party is a community protective factor to bring people together for a positive experience,” says Emily Musty, the event’s lead organizer. “We often bring people together in times of tragedy and sadness, and this is an opportunity to celebrate the Town of Hartford and the many health and wellness resources that Hartford residents have access to.”
The Rusty Berrings Brass Band as well as the Hartford Memorial Middle School band will perform at the event, while arts centers will give demonstrations. For the fourth year in a row, Hartford police and fire chiefs will scoop Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and the White RiverJunction Rotary, in partnership with the LISTEN community dinner, will share a free picnic with attendees. In addition, approximately 50 vendors will advertise their services to the local community. SunCommon and HP Roofing are corporate sponsors of the event.
“It's all the collaborations, like these, that make this event so unique and worthwhile.” Musty says.
