The 'Tail' of a Hound Named Daphne
Adoptable Dog of the Week
Daphne is a
beautiful 3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound Cross who came to Vermont with a
family in mind. When they turned out not to be a match, her short-term
fosters started to worry that their palace wasn’t the best long-term fit for
their foster princess. She needs a large yard to run in with a moat (fence) to
keep her from leaving her kingdom in pursuit of a cat, wild critter, or random
She is learning with each walk to mind her royal leash, even enjoying sharing evening strolls with her Corgi and Giant Schnauzer foster sisters. But once in a while, the warm pebbles of these beautiful late-spring days are such a draw that she’s been known to plop down in the middle of a walk to bask in the sun.

Daphne has the gentle soul of a dog who has been a mom, but the unease of one who has probably never known a true, loving home. She isn’t always sure how to handle the gracious hospitality of her foster family, sometimes acting nervous, and other times playing all-out in her big, goofy way. She is beginning to communicate her needs during the day and keeps her royal chambers clean at night.
She’s got the lungs of a true hound, and likes to sing out loud. Perhaps a country estate might best suit her big-girl voice and adventurous spirit?
