Last weekend I exercised my body while testing my running and endurance skills at BarnArts Race Around the Lake (http://www.barnarts.org/?page_id=105) and what a blast! A great event in support of the arts and I highly recommend it! Today however, I exercised my wallet as this day marks the official start of sidewalk sales in Woodstock.
I love this area…I truly love this area! I feel very fortunate to live in such a wonderful place filled with interesting and lovely people. I walked through the streets of downtown Woodstock this morning knowing today is the official start of sidewalk sales. I stopped to look at each store’s display and was greeted by either the owner or an employee with a smile and a friendly greeting. I was brought up in a family owned grocery business so I understand quite a bit about being an independent retail store owner and how critical customer service is. As I went from store to store I was reminded about how uniquely wonderful this area is as friendly conversations easily transpire and each store offers quality items that are carefully and beautifully displayed. So much to choose from! So much to see! So much fun to be had! A few of my favorite spots on my retail therapy route today: Clover (https://www.clovergiftshop.com), Woodstock Sports, 37 Central ( http://www.37central.com) Elevation Clothing (https://elevationclothingvt.com. Happily, a very short drive led me right to Farmhouse Pottery’s Tent sale (https://www.farmhousepottery.com)... oh my!
There is something for everyone and each local business has something very special to offer. I encourage all to support our local businesses as they are truly gems.
