Music by Justin and Chloe (that’s me) and Friends launches BarnArts Music Series.
Feast and Field opens May 31st with a soft-opening and fire-lighting ceremony for a festive gathering to kick off the farm season. These popular events are hosted on a working farm where four family farms share a lease, but this soft opening will only feature prepared foods, not a full market with CSA pick-ups. Without a full market, this frees up vegetable farmer Justin Park to take the stage with me. Normally we are musicians for the post-concert jams, but this week, attendees during official market hours will get a sampling of our campfire repertoire.
In 2009 Justin moved to Barnard to be Fable Farm’s first intern before Feast and Field. That summer was the first summer of gatherings in the backyard of the farmhouse, when people would gather during CSA pickups (even if they didn't have a share) for potlucks, pizza, and music. When Justin found out I played the cello, he urged me to bring it out to the farm one week, and I very cautiously played along with him on the back porch of the village farmhouse. The rest is history. The next year, I picked the fiddle up after 15(???) years and Justin had recently picked up the mandolin. We both began collecting tunes from Randy Leavitt and other musicians in the area and passing through. Justin's encouragement and fine accompaniment over the last 9 years have helped me grow as a musician and we’re thrilled to kick off a great season of music and invite some of our pals and regulars at the fireside jam to join us onstage.

Music is presented by BarnArts
Center for the Arts, and funds collected each week help support all music-related costs, and support a rainy day fund so we can be sure to pay our bigger bands, even if they get rained out! If you are interested in being a sponsor please contact me at clovermont (at) gmail (dot) com.
Food and drink will be available from Fable Farm and Fermentory, Carin's Kombucha, and ice cream from Kiss the Cow Farm. While there won't be a full farmers market, visitors can sign up for CSA membership from the member farms (Heartwood Farm and Kiss the Cow both have CSA programs, Fable Farm has a new wine club program, and Eastman Farm does special orders)
Meet the new market manager Abby Bower and sign up for the membership program, now in its second year, which helps the farmers cover the costs of hosting the event.
Join June 7th for a full market featuring music by Spencer Lewis and Friends.
Feast and Field and BarnArts Music Series are every Thursday into October 18th.
