Man Allegedly Threatened Several People with Knife
Charged with Attempted Robbery, Other Crimes
On May 14, at approximately 6:36 a.m., Lebanon Police responded to Hanover Street, inthe area of High Street, for a report of a male subject with a knife who allegedly had threatened several people. Arriving officers investigated and located Patrick Smith, age 39, of High Street in Lebanon, nearby.
According to Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello, “The investigation determined that Smith was armed with a butcher’s knife and [allegedly] attempted to rob a 44-year-old female of her purse while she was walking on the sidewalk.” It was further determined that Smith also allegedly attempted to “car-jack” a 37-year-old male of his vehicle, said the Lebanon Police Department.
Smith was taken into custody at the scene, and a knife was recovered. During the course of the incident, Smith allegedly had also damaged a vehicle, said Mello.
Smith was charged with Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, a Class B Felony (3 counts), Attempted Robbery, a Class A Felony (2 counts), and Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Smith was arraigned today in the Grafton County Superior Court.
