Attempted car-jacking also under investigation
LEBANON - A High Street resident allegedly accosted several people with a butcher knife shortly after 6:30 a.m. this morning on Hanover Street near the intersection with High Street, police reported.
Patrick Smith, 39, who had been the focus of a number of bizarre disturbance and threatening complaints in recent days in downtown Lebanon, was taken into custody at the scene.
Police said that during the incidents Smith allegedly attempted to take a purse away from a woman who was walking along the sidewalk and also attempted to car-jack a vehicle, damaging the car in the process.
Smith was charged with three felony counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, two felony counts of attempted robbery, and an accompanying misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.
Smith will be arraigned later today in the Grafton County Superior Court.
