Those traits were exemplified by the multiple nominations Michael received. He has been a willing volunteer (and board member) for numerous programs supporting conservation, mental health, affordable housing and senior cohousing. He has served on the boards of Headrest and of Second Growth; two organizations that deal with suicide counseling and prevention in the Upper Valley. In 2015, Michael served as the honorary chair of the PADDLEPOWER fundraiser for West Central Behavioral Health to support their continuing efforts to prevent suicide. He also is the executive producer and prime motivator of a beautiful set of CDs of wonderfully consoling music by nationally famous performers (Before Their Time, www.beforetheirtime.org). The Allen and Nan King Award is now in its 22nd year and features a $500 award which recipients give to the charity of their choice.
