Little Istanbul, the retail store that Vural and Jackie Oktay are opening across the street from their Tuckerbox restaurant, is coming along nicely. The space is large with enormous windows and plenty of light.

The center of the store will feature a giant U-shaped counter with 24 bins heaping with spices - just like the spice markets in Instanbul.

There will be built-ins along the walls to hold Turkish wines, olives and treats (like Turkish Delight), ceramics, and all sorts of kilim and suzani-covered bags, purses, shoes and boots.

The back left side of the store will be filled with Turkish rugs and furniture like ottomans and benches.

Jackie Oktay says they have received shipment of 184 boxes of inventory from their hand-picked Turkish suppliers. They are very excited to open Little Istanbul and hope everything will be ready to go in early June.
