Leya’s Island Grill, a new Caribbean-Thai fusion restaurant in downtown Hanover, celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting on April 25. Located in the lower level of 6 Allen Street, the restaurant is brightly colored and features authentic Jamaican dishes such as Jerk Chicken and Pineapple Chicken & Rice. Says Letman, “we want Leya’s to be the place where you can come after work or school to relax and be put into a better mood with great food and atmosphere.”
Owner Gayann Letman is only 26 but cooking runs in her family. Her father owns the Sunshine Cookshop, a Jamaican restaurant located in Claremont.
Leya’s Island Grill will be adding Karaoke nights on Fridays and Open Mike nights on Saturdays and Sundays starting in May. Regular hours are 11-9 PM, Tuesday – Thursday, 11-10 PM Friday – Sunday. Delivery, takeout and catering available. “Come get a taste of the Islands,” invites Letman.
