Facets: Meet Sarah. She's about to meet her 28th niece or nephew.
Meet Sarah. She's about to meet her 28th niece or nephew.
Sarah was born in Randolph and grew up in Barnard. She was one of 15 children, with 12 brothers and 2 sisters. Two of her brothers died when they were very young. Not surprisingly, her mother spent just about every second taking care of the children. Her father was a logger.
Sarah dreamed of being a hairdresser when she was a little girl. She even brushed, styled and cut her Barbie dolls' hair. In high school, Sarah played soccer, basketball and danced. She loved dance so much that she volunteered at a dance studio in Randolph and helped with the choreography of the younger kids.
Sarah graduated from the New England School of Hair Design. Her first paying job was working at Tangles and Tans Salon in Lebanon. Since then, she's worked at The Hair Affair and Belleza. She is doing exactly what she dreamed of doing.
In her free time, Sarah likes to kayak, snowmobile, go to the beach, play volleyball and watch movies. She also loves to go to her boyfriend's softball games on hot summer nights. And remember all of those siblings? Well Sarah has 27 nieces and nephews and is getting ready to meet the newest addition very soon. Family get togethers are pure chaos - in such a good way. Sarah is 31.
Happy childhood memory: riding up on the skidder with her father
Big (but maybe not biggest) regret: never being a dance teacher
