One more reason to love Lebanon . . .
Sculpture is headed to the Mascoma River Greenway. Steel Umbrella by artists Margaret Jacobs and Justin O’Rourke, (top photo, above) and Wheels by Susan K. Johnson were chosen from among several submissions sought by a partnership of AVA Gallery and Art Center, the Mascoma River Greenway Coalition, and the City of Lebanon’s Department of Recreation and Parks.

According to a press release from AVA Gallery, the jury who selected the works included: Rainey Kelly, leader in the Mascoma River Greenway Coalition; Charlet Davenport, Director of Sculpture Fest in Woodstock, VT; Rob Taylor, Executive Director of the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce; Jessica Giordani, Co-founder of Art City NH and co-owner of Scratch on Lebanon Mall; and Annie Zhao, junior at Lebanon High School and exhibitor in AVA’s 2018 Annual High School Exhibition. Paul Coats, Director of Lebanon’s Dept. of Recreation and Parks and Trip Anderson, Executive Director of AVA Gallery, provided technical insights but did not vote in the process.
The artists will fabricate their works by June 30 and install them on the Greenway in Lebanon by mid-July. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for late July, 2018. Dust off those walking shoes! Spring is coming. Really.
