The Vermont Community Garden Network is seeking volunteers to participate in "Day in the Dirt," a day spent preparing community gardens to plant. This year's Day in the Dirt will again be held on Earth Day, which will be celebrated on April 28. There are 2 White River Junction locations that volunteers can work in: the ARIS Solutions Gardens at 72 S. Main Street and the garden at Upper Valley Haven at 713 Hartford Avenue. Michelle Gates, executive director of the Vermont Community Garden Network, says "Vermont has more than 500 community-based gardens which provide food and social connections for thousands of people, including many children and families at risk for food insecurity without access to them."
