This Saturday, April 14, 7:30 pm at the Upper Valley Music Center
Cassoto Duo- Jeremiah McLane, accordion, & Annemieke McLane, piano- join soprano Julie Ness for a concert of French songs by Debussy, Poulenc, Franck, and more.
This program revels in the music and poetry of La Belle Époque, an era in France between 1871, at the end of Franco-Prussian War and 1914, the start of WW1. In the climate of the period, especially in Paris, the arts flourished. Many masterpieces of literature, theater and visual art gained recognition. With the growing availability of the piano in people's homes, salon music became very popular and the French Melodie thrived. We will be performing music of Hahn, Debussy, and Poulenc, along with original arrangements for piano, accordion and voice.
If you haven't yet visited the Upper Valley Music Center's new home, this is a great chance to see the beautiful new space and hear terrific music in an intimate setting.
