Plácido Domingo adds yet another role to his legendary Met career in this rarely performed Verdi gem, a heart-wrenching tragedy of fatherly love. Sonya Yoncheva is the innocent Luisa, who is very much in love with the son of a wealthy count (Piotr Beczała), but sacrifices her own happiness to save her father’s life (Domingo). Returning to the Met after 10 years, this production is not to be missed. Bertrand de Billy conducts.
