It's time to greet spring and the neighbors you haven't seen for months! Celebrate Norman Williams Public Library at the 17th Annual Ex Libris Gala on Sunday, April 29, 2018. This year's guest speaker is Jack Beatty, News Analyst for NPR’s “On Point,” former Senior Editor of The Atlantic, and author of numerous books including "The Rascal King."
The Gala kicks off with a cocktail reception at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 pm, both at the Woodstock Inn. Tickets are $125. per person. Jack Beatty is one of the country’s most versatile and perceptive journalists. Best known these days as the news analyst for National Public Radio’s public-aff airs program, Mr. Beatty enjoyed a long career as a senior editor at writing or editing some of the magazine’s most important pieces on politics, economics and international relations. He also is the author of several books, including two acclaimed biographies: (1992), the legendary Boston mayor, which was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award; and (1998), the social thinker and management theorist.
Mr. Beatty has received a Guggenheim fellowship, two research grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, an Olive Branch Award from New York University, a William Allen White Award for criticism from the University of Kansas, and an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation.
