I have seen Noises Off three times. I am going again. I can never get over the split-second timing it takes to put the comedic zing in this zany onstage/backstage sex comedy. What must the rehearsals look like, and does anyone end up injured?

The final production of the season at Northern Stage is a homecoming for a number of actors, including Susan Haefner (above). She was last seen in Northern Stage’s Mamma Mia; this is what I wrote at the time:

Is there anything that Susan Haefner cannot do? By now a Northern Stage regular, she has appeared previously as the wholesome Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins and as the Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol. As Donna's old friend and bandmate Tanya, she's jaded and a little faded until she turns up the heat with a fawning boy-toy in Does Your Mother Know You're Out?

Other members of the cast are a who’s who of recent Northern Stage (and other) productions: Jamie Horton (Northern Stage: Orwell in AmericaOur Town, and Twelve Angry Men; Off-Broadway: Orwell in America at 59E59 Theaters), and Bill Kux (Northern Stage: A Christmas CarolThe Hound of the Baskervilles, and Romeo and Juliet; Broadway: Gore Vidal’s The Best ManThe Trip to Bountiful, and Ain’t Broadway Grand). Audiences may also recognize Emily Kron, who played the title role in Mary Poppins.

After two years in the Northern Stage box office, Michael Hornig (Bud Frump in How to Succeed… at the New London Barn Playhouse) makes his main stage debutJenni Putney, David Mason, and Mark Light-Orr reunite after starring in The Norman Conquests, a trilogy of plays including Living TogetherTable Manners, and Round and Round the Garden. Putney and Mason also appeared together in last season’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers and Trick or Treat (transferring Off-Broadway in January 2019). The cast is completed with Patti Perkins (Northern Stage: New Works Now 5.0’s Jane Burgoyne; Broadway: Billy ElliotThe Full MontyShakespeare's Cabaret, and All Over Town).

Noises Off will run from April 11 to May 13. Tickets are available through the box office at 802.296.7000 or online at the Northern Stage website.
