Salvation Farms, increasing food system resilience
We are excited to announce that Salvation Farms of Morristown, Vermont is our feature organization for our Common Cents program
Salvation Farms' mission is to increase food system resilience through agricultural surplus management. This non-profit organization has programs to redirect surplus fresh foods from farms to charitable food access points for the community. Their goal is to create systems that both reduce food waste and provide food to the people who need it. Find out more on their website and their Facebook account.
For those that are unaware, Common Cents is a community contribution program that allows customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, and the difference benefits community-supportive organizations whose missions align with the Co-op's! Twenty-five percent of donations go to the Upper Valley Haven, 25% go to the Vermont Foodbank, and 50% go to our feature organization.
We have opted to not ask customers if they would like to round up, so please, if you'd like to participate, remember to tell your cashier that you’d like to round up your purchase total in order to donate! Thanks to all who have contributed so far!
If your organization would like to be considered as a beneficiary, please email our Education & Outreach Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
