We know. You're surprised. But here it is -- you're not going to match these prices on the NH side of the river... Come to Norwich Wines, on Elm Street, in Norwich, VT.
2016 Chenin Blanc/Viognier, Pine Ridge, California $11.99
With just enough Viognier to provide a beautiful aromatic lift to the Chenin Blanc, this well-priced wine serves beautifully as a cocktail and matches beautifully with lighter seafood and poultry dishes. Where straight Viognier can often be tropical enough to border on sweetness, this blend has a dry and refreshing finish. We have been selling it for years, and it is just a matter of time before this outstanding value will sell for more, as it certainly seems worth it!
2015 Grenache, Bonny Doon "Clos de Gilroy", Monterey County, California $14.99
A grape grown widely in the Southern Rhone and throughout Spain, Grenache is surprisingly uncommon to find in California. Randall Grahm, a quick-witted and eloquent Philosophy major, focuses primarily on making Rhone-style wines which tend to be full of flavor while remaining subtle enough to seem European. He recommends serving this with a slight chill as the weather warms, and like a great Cotes-du-Rhone, it pairs very well with flavorful dishes, including those with the garlic that makes Gilroy famous.
