Meet Margot. She met Timothy Leary on a road trip.
Margot was born in New York City but raised in Princeton, New Jersey. As a child, she was crazy about the outdoors and she spent her time chasing frogs, building rafts to launch and playing any sport she could. When she was 15, she got her first job as a babysitting for a family that was summering on Martha's Vineyard. One weekend, the family took a road trip to a beautiful estate in Millbrook, New York. There, Margot met psychedelic pioneer Timothy Leary. She only found out about what he was doing there later. Wild stuff. Later, Margot had jobs in finance in Boston, New York and LA.
Margot moved to the Upper Valley in 1969 and lived in Woodstock with her sister. She worked as manager of 5 Olde Nugget, was on the original crew at Peter Christian's Tavern, worked at Dartmouth's Collis Center, and owned Hanover Hot Tubs and Adventures in Paradise (a tanning salon and clothing store).
Margot is retired now. Sometimes she helps with her daughter's flower business. Her favorite things to do are to read and garden. She lives in West Lebanon with her husband. Margot is 71.
First time she fell in love: when she laid eyes on her husband
Her happy place: now, Sedona, Arizona; between 6 and 16, summer camp at Lake Willoughby
