Facets: Kendall, Owner of White River GrowPro
Meet Kendall. He was a gypsy for 10 years.
Kendall was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but his family moved to the Burlington area when he was still a baby. He grew up in Shelburne and went to Champlain Valley High School. His first job was delivering pizza for Buono Appetito Pizza in Shelburne.
When Kendall graduated from high school, he left the Upper Valley and lived like a gypsy for 10 years. He moved to Oregon then to Washington, D.C. then to California then to Colorado then back to California and then back to Colorado and then again back to California. He was living the dream in California, playing in a band and savoring the long days that came and went. But nothing lasts forever and the band broke up. Kendall moved back to Vermont because his mother lived close by.
When he moved to the Upper Valley, Kendall worked at the Quechee Lakes as a “lifter” in the colder months and on the golf course in the warmer months. Once he had to ask some slower golfers to move along so the people behind them could keep their game moving. He did this so tactfully that one of the slow golfers offered him a job as a manager in his hardware store. And Kendall met his wife working in the ski area. She was a snowboard instructor. That job sure did lead to some good things.
Kendall and his wife opened White River GrowPro in 2014. Business is good enough that they were just able to hire a full-time employee.
Kendall and his wife have lived together in White River Junction for 16 years. They just had a baby girl. He cries when he talks about her. Kendall is 48.
