Facets: Elyse, Graphic Designer at Simon Pearce
Meet Elyse. She was Columbia in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Elyse grew up in Maine. She was born in Portland and grew up in Windham, Maine. Her younger brother was and is her best friend. Her first job was at Wendy's when she was 14. Elyse got to do a little bit everything there - from cleaning to cashiering to making sandwiches and operating the friolater. Other jobs included grocery store cashier, retail sales clerk, waitress and traffic flagger for road construction.
Elyse went to the Savannah College of Art and Design where she studied illustration, character design, children's books and fine art, among other things. After college, she moved to Lake Jackson, Texas on the Gulf Coast. She did not like it there and felt the people there did not like her. So she moved back to Windham, Maine in 2010, where she suffered through an unpleasant 9-month stint of unemployment.
In 2011, Elyse moved to Barnard. She lives there with her husband, their 19-month old son, Edward the guinea pig, and Luke and Maggie, two rescue dogs from the Lucy MacKenzie Humane Society. She loves to participate in local theatre and played the character Columbia in Pentangle's production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in 2016. She and her husband are expecting another baby in August. Elyse works as a graphic designer for Simon Pearce in Windsor. She is 30.
Ice cream flavor she'd never order: rum raisin
