Exercise Smarter with Step Ahead Athlete
Health and Fitness Resource based in Vermont
Step Ahead Athlete (https://stepaheadathlete.com) is a great blog / website resource for anyone interested in a healthier lifestyle. With posts about food, training, stretching, and general wellness, it’s a great tool that I’ve found really helpful despite the fact that my activity level doesn’t even approach that of the author.
Full disclosure – my daughter, Jenny, created the site. She grew up as a gymnast at Northern Lights in Wilder, went to UVM, got her bachelor’s in nutrition before completing the PhD program in Physical Therapy. She now works at a local critical access hospital just outside the Upper Valley and has completed nine marathons before the age of 30, including Boston twice.
What’s great about her site is that she balances advice for serious athletes, weekend warriors, and non-athletes just seeking improved health. The stretching exercises have really helped me, and with her PT knowledge she offers terrific insight into injury recovery and prevention. Recently she wrote a heart-felt post about how she has worked back into running after an injury derailed her training, information that any beginning runner could use to break into the sport. Plus, she is very conscientious about replying to questions and comments.
Again, I admit my bias, but highly recommended!
