Worth Knowing

Meet Roy. He used to be a paperboy.

Roy grew up in Lebanon. When he was 14, he delivered the afternoon edition of the Valley News on a bike. Church Street and Mechanic Street were on his delivery route. Roy loved the Boy Scouts and achieved Eagle Scout status, the highest rank possible. He was always fascinated with firemen and fire trucks. Through the Boy Scouts he was able to join the Explorer Post Junior Firefighter in Lebanon. He loved that.

In 1981, Roy got a job as a dishwasher at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover. Ten years later, the hospital moved to its new DHMC Lebanon campus. Roy went, too. He's still there. His job title is Production Aide. Like most people, he likes some parts of his job more than others. He would take dishes over pots and pans any day.

Roy has been married for 31 years. He and his wife live in Wilder. They love to take their camper out for weekend trips. Every year they go on vacation to Ogunquit, Maine.

Favorite restaurant: Lui Lui

Morning drink: milk
