Swing Into Spring: A Tennis fundraiser for Buddy Up Tennis

Gianluca wants YOU to help kids play tennis!

Most people watch a feel good sports story and think, "Wow, that's wonderful!" and leave it at that. But not 8th grader Gianluca Audia.

“I was watching a match between Novak Djokovic and Paralympic champion Dylan Alcott during a charity event ahead of the 2017 Australian Open. They were both playing wheelchair tennis and Djokovic was struggling mightily. It made me think about how much I like to play tennis and that everyone – including kids with disabilities – should get to enjoy tennis too. I decided I wanted to help make that happen."

And boy has he!

He has organized SWING INTO SPRING: a tennis round robin event in support of Buddy Up Tennis, which provides weekly tennis clinics for kids with Down syndrome. To get everything organized he's joined forces with Liz Gray at Positive Tracks – an organization that helps young people sweat for good. Positive Tracks’ Challenges Program is doubling the dollars raised by all participants up to $1,000!

Swing Into Spring is a fun morning of tennis and prizes.  Andrew Gunberg, RVC Tennis Director, will run the round robin and contests like “Return the Pro’s Serve.”

Gianluca has worked hard asking for, and receiving, amazing community support from Lou’s, Boloco, Skinny Pancake, ARC Mechanical, Wilson Tire, and Zermatt Legal Group. In addition, IMG Academy has donated a full week long youth sports camp certificate to the cause (a $2800 Value!)

Even if you don't play, or aren't able to get a spot, you can still support Gianluca's efforts by donating at SWING INTO SPRING.
