The Best Laid Plans
The other day I pulled out my planner and took a long, hard look at the months ahead. Oh boy! Four mural projects, two classes to teach and six large floorcloths are on the books. Then there's my first solo art gallery show which opens the beginning of September. My plan is to create 12 new paintings for the show. That's 2 a month. Yikes! Such is the life of an artist trying to stay on top of her game. I'd like to think it's all about drawing and painting at will, but the fact of the matter is that if you sit still too long, that's where you'll stay! (A rolling stone and all that...) This painting above, "Gray Horse Gold Dog" is the first new painting which will be included in the show in September. It's a start!
On Saturday, March 3, I will be demonstrating and talking about painting murals for historic homes in Keene, NH.
Please go to this link for more information. I'll show how murals are created and will show a bunch of Rufus Porter pieces as well as my own. Bring your questions, ideas and any photos of existing murals. I'd love to talk with you!
If you can't make it to Keene, feel free to drop me an email and I'll try to answer your questions!
This morning I couldn't decide what to draw, so I just picked what was there in front of me!
Each morning I do a little pen and ink or pencil doodle to help me get warmed up for a creative day! If you would like to get a doodle in your inbox each morning, please send me an email and I'll add you to the list.
These doodles are available as matted prints, ready to frame as 8" X 10" pieces. They are $75 each. Just pop me an email with the title of the drawing you'd like and I'll send you an invoice soon.
It's been a warm week! The town trucks are out on our road this morning, trying to make the mud less ahem... muddy. Good luck, guys!
