Recently, I've been reading the letters of Ansel Adams. He was remarkable with language, as he was with photography. His letters brim with variety, from thoughtful observations about art to self-deprecating humor. His energy, enthusiasm and intelligence leap from the page. His words are full of wisdom.

"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence." - Ansel Adams

This reminds me that I think of winter as a season of silence. My images often feel inadequate in their ability to capture the light and look of winter, but I enjoy the attempt to interpret this quiet season.
