My goals were to improve town governance, renew town facilities and to achieve a stable budgeting process. I feel that we have achieved those goals a) having hired a town manager, who seems to have the confidence of the board and the citizens, b) having obtained town assent to financing renewal of the police station and public works garage and c) having achieved a stable budgeting process that exercises stewardship over the town’s services and physical assets with the strong endorsement of the voters.

Mr. Flanders also indicated that the Selectboard represents “diverse interests of the community, which are not always in harmony with one another.” This may result in “difficult discussions and decisions that require preparation, long meetings and … lost sleep.”  He added: “I look forward to more restful times in following other interests.”

The deadline for filing a petition to run for office is Monday, January 30, 2017 at 5:00 PM.  Contact the Norwich Town Clerk for more information at  802-649-1419, Ext. 103.
