Selectboard Chair Mary Layton plans to run for reelection to the Selectboard at Town Meeting in March. Ms. Layton was first elected to the Selectboard in 2015, at a time when many voters were unhappy with the Selectboard's acceptance of the Condrey Report and the VTel tower financing.

In an email, she briefly stated the reasons for her decision:

I am enjoying working with the other Select Board members and with the Town Manager. I would like to offer some continuity of service to the Town.

I am interested in helping to work through the Town Plan process, and think that a reasonable level of affordable housing and also zoning to concentrate development near to the village would benefit the Town.

The deadline for filing a petition to run for office is Monday, January 30, 2017 at 5:00 PM.  Contact the Norwich Town Clerk for more information at 802-649-1419, Ext. 103.
