Bundle up.  It's a great winter to get out and explore.  Here are some activities to try.

If you're like me and haven't cross country skiied since you were a kid, you might consider yourself a newbie.  Here are some places to give it a go; a lot of offer rentals and groomed trails.

Maybe you're more experienced and just need a new place to explore.  From groomed trails to make your own, here are some more trails to try.

Cross country skiing

You can also participate in other outdoorsy activities like dog sledding or exploring the sculpture gardens in the winter.

You can also find an extensive list of free and for a fee places as an overview of places nearby to cross country ski or snow shoe here.

You might also want something a little different like tubing, watching a sporting event, or a sleigh ride.   Winter Activities not skiing snow boarding

With a two year old, this is more my type of activity right now.  Attend a free clinic or outing with the LL Bean store.  Upcoming activities include stargazing and essential knots.  I may not ever have a use for the knots I learn, but man that sounds fascinating!  Learn Winter Woodsy Things like animal tracking or how animals adapt in winter from Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park in Woodstock. The Upper Valley Trails Alliance also does walks, hikes, and snow shoe experiences during the winter which you can see here.

Happy Wintering!
