Greg Kotis, writer of the musical Yeast Nation, arrived from New York last evening to attend Lebanon High School’s opening night of his own work, reports Jonathan Verge, the show’s director. In the full staging of this production at the Lebanon Opera House, Lebanon High’s Wet Paint Players are having the opportunity to pioneer and contribute to the play’s continuing evolution. Its debut on the Upper Valley stage was "everything I could have hoped for," said Verge.

Tony-Award winning Kotis and his fellow writer, Mark Hollmann, are better known for the book and lyrics of Urinetown: The Musical, staged last year at Dartmouth College. For Verge, Yeast Nation is familiar territory; he worked with Hollman and Kotis as the associate producer of an earlier version of it in Chicago. Lebanon High School’s presentation is only the 5th production of the musical.

It may be cold outside but it’s warmer under the sea that you’ll find at the Lebanon Opera House this weekend, where love is blossoming. Performances are on Saturday, December 16 at 1:00 and 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 17 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door.
