Masked thieves grab cigarettes from Weathersfield convenience store in 4 a.m. robbery

Two men pushed around older employee as she opened store for the day

DOWNERS FOUR CORNERS, VT -  Two men wearing ski-style masks shoved an employee out of the way as she was unlocking the door at the Downers Corners Store at 4 a.m. this morning and then raked out cartons of cigarettes and cigars before running off into the night.

    Vermont State Police said that June French ended up being taken to Springfield Hospital for evaluation following the assault and robbery.

    Downers Four Corners is the crossroads at the intersection of Routes 106 and Route 131 roughly halfway between North Springfield and Reading.

    State police are asking that anyone with knowledge of the incident, or who may have seen any suspicious individuals or vehicles parked in the area early this morning, to contact Trooper Tyler Noyes at the Westminster State Police Barracks at (802) 722-4600.
