Chubby Coal Stove: Purchased ~1980, has been in continuous service for last 20 years in my living room. Start fire with kindling, then add 20-30 lbs of nut coal, this stove gets to peak temperature in 30 minutes. Burn time per filling = 10-20 hours. This stove is perfectly silent and requires no electricity. Excellent alternative to a wood or pellet stove, a great secondary source of heat, and a life-saver when winter storms knock out electricity. Fuel is nut coal, available in 40 lb bags, and available by the bag or pallet from West Lebanon Supply. Pallets = 1.2 tons, cost is ~$395.00. 2 pallets suffice for an Upper Valley winter.
