The Listers plan to meet with the Contract Assessor on Monday November 20 to discuss a new working relationship. To see how the Town reached this point, see the post Contract Assessor Wants Out. The Listers have not publicly articulated the specifics of their wish list. On November 8, the Listers asked Bill Krajeski of NEMC, the Contract Assessor, to “provide a draft contract that would represent what NEMC would provide as services to the Town under a new arrangement,” according to draft meeting minutes.
Previously Mr. Krajeski indicated that he was willing to intensively train the Listers on the software program used to determine value. That would leave the valuation function primarily in the hands of the Listers, an option contrary to the recommendations in 2011 Committee Report regarding the structure of the Listers office.
My next post on this topic will discuss the 2011 Committee Report.
