Monadnock Buy Local (MBL) is gearing up for another year of the Shift Your Shopping campaign! Join the Shift Your Shopping campaign from November 1 to December 31 by shopping locally to support your community. Year round it is important to support local businesses, but the holiday season serves as an especially great reminder to think local with all the shopping and gift giving happening. Through the Shift Your Shopping national movement citizens are encouraged to support job creation and economic growth by making their holiday purchases at locally owned and independent businesses.
There are many ways to get involved including making a pledge through the Monadnock Buy Local website to shift at least 10% of your holiday purchases from non-local businesses to locally owned businesses.
You can also get involved by showing your support for the local economy and shopping locally on Plaid Friday November 24, Small Business Saturday November 25, and Cider Monday November 27. Make sure to wear plaid for Plaid Friday and take some fun photos while out shopping at independent businesses. Make a day of visiting small businesses in your community for Small Business Saturday. Instead of sitting in front of a computer screen for Cyber Monday go out and enjoy cider and excellent customer service at participating stores for Cider Monday.
Help carry on this annual tradition to strengthen local economies, expand employment, nurture a sense of community, and experience a rewarding gift-buying experience.
