One car briefly slides underneath the other
WILDER, VT - Three teenagers walked away from a rear-end collision that actually lifted the car ahead of them and threw it forward about a car-length Friday evening right in front of the Cumberland Farms gas station and convenience store that sits next to Bloods' Seafood on Hartford Avenue.
The adult who was in the 2003 Chevy Cavalier that got rear-ended by the teens escaped injury as well.
The 7:30 p.m. incident right at the north entrance to the Cumberland Farms store briefly forced the closure of the stretch of busy roadway, which is also part of Route 5 as it makes its way through town.
Hartford Police Officer Logan Scelza said the first car had travelled south up the hill and was preparing to turn into Cumby's when the teen driver came up behind him and did not notice that the lead vehicle had slowed down.
