A First: Gordon Clapp in Repertory at Northern Stage
The talented Emmy award-winning Gordon Clapp is not new to Northern Stage, but repertory is. For the first time in the company's history, two plays will run during the same time period to open the Stage's 21st season.
Clapp will act in A Doll's House (September 20 to October 29), the classic play by Henrik Ibsen. He will star in Robert Frost: This Verse Business (October 5 to October 28). Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne notes that rotating two or more productions "used to be ubiquitous in the American theater, but the difficulties of concurrent productions have dissuaded companies from embarking on rep. We love a challenge. . ."

Dunne sees the plays as thematically linked, describing both Ibsen and Frost as "masters of the written word." The subject of each is particularly timely. In the Frost play, the poet comments on the beauty of the natural world; in A Doll's House, the status and inner lives of women are on display.
