Best Of The Fair: Larkin Dancers

Submitted a year ago

A feature of the Tunbridge Fair for as long as anyone can remember and longer still, the Larkin Dancers perform traditional contras and quadrilles just as they were learned by the group’s founder, Ed Larkin at community dances in Tunbridge in 1883.

The group has outlived its founder as well as Chelsea’s venerable Harold Luce, who learned the dances from Larkin, and kept the group on its toes for 80 years until his death at age 95 in 2014.

Keep an eye out for the famous fair frollickers on Antique Hill. They take the stage in the Entertainment Tent every two hours starting at 10 a.m.
