On Friday, September 15, the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 21st annual golf tournament at the Hanover Country Club. The event has become a landmark on the Upper Valley calendar over the years for several reasons.
All funds raised by the event help the not-for-profit Chamber in its mission to build and strengthen the economy in Hanover, Norwich, and Lyme while improving the quality of life overall in the Upper Valley. Chamber Executive Director Tracy Hutchins, who will oversee her first tournament, says, “The funds raised at this year’s tournament will help the Chamber and its members to improve workforce development, create an even more business-friendly environment, and promote the area as a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Dozens of area businesses, their clients, and individuals play 18 holes in a friendly atmosphere. The event is a great networking opportunity as participants talk shop during play and at the finishing barbecue. Dean Cashman, Vice President at Lake Sunapee Bank and a multi-year veteran of the tournament, said, “Not only is the tournament an enjoyable day of golf, it is also a chance to build relationships with clients, colleagues, and friends from Hanover and around the Upper Valley.” This year’s event includes professionals in the financial, communications, health, real estate, legal, and hospitality fields, among others.
Foursomes have a choice of playing a straight scramble or participating in a Ryder Cup format. Prizes, awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin, and gross and net scoring, include gift certificates and goods from area restaurants, golf, retail, business services, retail, and cultural attractions.
