Not your typical yard sale. The proceeds went to a worthy cause.

As I was walking over to the post office this past Saturday, I noticed a yard sale taking place in front of the Bayada Hospice Building on Main Street. There was a buzz with people bringing out all kinds of things to sell.  I crossed the street and quickly found something to bring home.

I made a bid/donation for the item I purchased, and asked what the yard sale was all about. (I thought it might just be a typical yard sale where one sells what they no longer need.)  This, to my surprise, was not the case.  I spoke with Jessica De Grechie, who is Director of Bayada and one of the ladies making sure there were plenty of items to sell.  (I purchased a small piece of furniture that she had just set down.)

Jessica explained that there is a Walk to end Alzheimer’s – Upper Valley scheduled for September 24, 2017 and the goal is to raise $25,000.00 for Alzheimer’s research.  As of 8/26/2017 they have already raised 19,348.17—not including the proceeds from the yard sale.

The walk starts in White River Junction's Lyman Park. To donate or participate click here.
