INBOUND! Trains, Food, & Fun in WRJ, VT
ALL ABOARD! Glory Days Festival on September 9 & 10, 2017
Who doesn't love a train? The lumbering giants on rails, dwarfing everything but the beautiful landscapes they glide through on two shiny rails. These are the most glorious of days in Vermont, as the weather turns cool at night and the sun brings warmth during the crisp, clear days.
Don't neglect to bring yourself, your family, and your friends to this year's Glory Days Festival in White River Junction, VT. It all happens on September 9 & 10, and it's guaranteed to be fun, rain or shine. Hopping aboard a train and watching the Vermont countryside unfold before your very eyes is a treat no matter the weather!
Thiis is White River's big annual weekend. Thousands of people come into town from all over the northeast, and places well beyond, to talk trains, ride rails, and enjoy the new and blossoming downtown community of "River City, VT." Wonderful restaurants abound. Sidewalk street sellers will have their colorful wares all about. And, yes, you can even try Piecemeal Pies best creations if you've not yet done so. My favorite? Try their Curried Vegetable Pastie. My all-time favorite? Try their rabbit and bacon pie. (Oh, and I should mention, drizzle the veggie pastie with raw honey, then add several drops of Red Armadillo hot sauce -- both available near the ice water jar.) Or maybe have a go at the carpaccio appetizer at Elixir in the old Freight House building now revamped and shining vividly in its own glory today. Whatever you decide to do in White River Junction, VT these days, it'll be a thrill and joy!
The rest is up to you. Wander and discover the sights and shops of this little railroad town that is better than ever these days. Little shops abound. Vermont Salvage is here. So is Lampscapes, where painter Ken Blaisdell will hand-paint you a lampshade to add color and distinctive flair to any decor of yours, anywhere. And don't miss the local art collective of Long River Gallery & Gifts, where work by more than 150 local (and world-class) artists and artisans is on display every day.
Here are some fun images below. Hope you'll make it to Glory Days to experience the glorious State of Vermont and White River Junction's whole new book, chapter, and page.
