“As we continue building a vibrant and thriving community of Makers in the Upper Valley, we are thrilled to have reached the construction phase of this project,” said Steve Goldsmith, President and Co-Founder of TwinState MakerSpaces, Inc.  “We’re looking forward to opening the doors to the Upper Valley’s creative hub later this year.”

When complete, the CMS will will be a major addition to the heart of downtown Claremont.  "CMS will be a coworking space, education center, creative hub and business incubator. It will offer affordable access to a variety of equipment and educational resources to help members put shape to their ideas, develop new skills, learn new crafts and launch businesses. Technology, arts, machinery and classroom facilities will be located on the premises," said Goldsmith. “The MakerSpace will be used for personal development as well as the promotion of business and workforce development through educational offerings, hands-on classes and activities, and active collaboration across multiple crafts, trades and professions. The space will also be a home and incubator for local hobbyists, artisans and small businesses seeking to promote their efforts and those of their community.”

The Claremont MakerSpace is made possible in part by a $250,000 grant from The Northern Borders Regional Commission, which is funding 30% of the initial construction and deployment project. Additional anchor funding is provided by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority’s Community Development Investment Program, and the United States Department of Agriculture - Rural Development.

“We are tremendously grateful to the many local and regional foundations, businesses and individuals who have provided support for the project,” said Goldsmith.
